A single mother-of-two who survives on benefits was shocked by a wealthy guest who couldn’t even cook a ready meal on tonight’s Rich Kids, Skint Holiday.

Diane Robinson, 50, who receives just about £1,200 a month and is left with £100 a week after bills to care for her daughter Michaela, 16, son, Bailey, 14, who has ADHD and her elderly mother Glenda, stars in the documentary series, airing at 9pm on 5Star.

She welcomed rich kid Jack, from Staffordshire, who had never had to worry about money and is used to splashing his father’s cash on five stars holidays around the globe, paying as much as £20,000 for luxury trips.

Diane challenged the wealthy heir to feed and entertain their party of five with a budget of £30.

However, his dinner of ready meals, chicken nuggets and Frankfurter sausages fell far from making a good impression on the mother-of-two, who was shocked that he couldn’t use the microwave properly to heat up their dinner.

Jack had to ask for support from Diane and her mother’s help to figure out how the microwave worked in order to heat up a ready meal curry.

He had to cook Glenda’s meal twice in order to heat both the rice and the sauce properly, and made the same mistake when it was Diane’s turn.

For the mother-of-two, Jack’s ineptitude proved too much to bear.

‘He can’t even cook a ready meal, I mean he can’t even cook a ready meal, come on,’ a flabbergasted Diane told the camera.

When dinner time came around, Diane and her two children politely tried to eat his combination of sausage, nuggets and microwaved curry.

After a few bites, Diane gave up and so did Michaela, as a blushing Jack looked on, visibly embarrassed.

‘You don’t like it,’ Diane told Michaela, who was struggling to go through the rice and curry in her plate.

Eventually, Diane pushed her plate and her daughter’s away.

‘It was horrible, it really was not nice, really not nice,’ she told the camera, ‘and I couldn’t make Michaela eat it.’

A sheepish Jack felt he had to apologise for his meal. However, he told the camera he was not expecting the mother-of-two to be so ‘fussy.’

‘I feel embarrassed, everything you’ve done for me today, and the best I could do was that,’ he said.

As an apology, Jack offered to babysit Bailey and Michaela so that Diane and her mother could go enjoy some bingo by the sea front.

Diane appreciated the gesture, but was still shocked at his dinner mishap.

‘Would you put sausage with curry and rice together?’ she asked her mother.

‘He’s gone for a quick easy student meal, no thank you, that’s not a meal for me,’ she added.

It was not the only time the mother-of-two complained about Jack’s ways in the programme.

The single mother, who has to rely on benefits to feed her family and can only afford to spend £40 to £55 a day during their holiday said she believed Jack was used to have everything handed to him on  a ‘silver spoon,’ and didn’t not know the value of money.

On their first day, while Diane took Jack and the kids to the local arcade, the big spender offered to give Michaela and Bailey extra pounds so they could play longer.

Diane agreed to them giving them an extra pound each, but took him aside to explain this is not the way she likes to do things.

‘That’s real kind of you to give them an extra pound each, but I can’t do that normally, they have to take it out of their own money, otherwise they might just think they can do it all the time,’ she explained.

‘When the money’s gone, they know it’s gone, if I can’t afford it, you don’t get it,’ she told the camera.

As the mother-of-two asked Jack how much he usually spends on entertainment, he admitted he easily could spend £1,000 on a night out in London with his father.

This was unfathomable to Diane, who is used to counting every penny.

Jack grew up in the lap of luxury with all his needs looked after by his father, Allan.

The 23-year-old said he goes on lavish holidays three times a year: a skiing holiday with his mates, a summer holiday with friends and one with his father.

The pair, who’ve only had each other since Jack’s mother died of cancer when he was 14, have spanned all continents and spared no expense for their travels,

‘He will pay for everything,’ Jack said of his father.

The list of their holidays was impressive, having gone anywhere from Chili to Canada and the US, Australia and Russia, as well as two safaris in Africa including one in Zambia where Jack and his father enjoyed an helicopter ride over Victoria Falls.

The rich kid admitted that, having been brought up with money, he didn’t know any better.

‘I’ve never met people who genuinely have to count their pennies and struggle,’ he said.

‘You see nurses who work a second job and when you never met somebody like that, you kinda wonder if it’s true.’

Upon meeting Diane and her family at the Skegness campsite, Jack was taken aback by the fact he would be staying in a caravan.

After settling down, he knocked of his bedroom wall and said: ‘Hopefully we won’t be blown away.’

When Diane sat down with Jack to get to know the heir, she asked how he financed his lifestyle and was shocked when he explained his father had bought him a flat.

‘He must be the only person I know that owns his own property at 23-year-old. He’s very, very lucky that he has his dad to rely on,’ she told the camera.

She discussed Jack’s way of life with her children while the heir was busy exploring the caravan park,

‘Jack is very lucky, isn’t it, he gets everything handed on a plate whereas you two gotta work or you don’t get anything,’ she told them.

‘Yeah, he’s very lucky because we got to do chores for our money,’ Michaela, who gets a £10 allowance a week, said.

‘We ain’t got the money but we got the love, I can give you what money can’t buy,’ Diane said.

The disparity between their budget was not lost on Jack either, who told the camera before going to bed: ‘I feel very awkward and embarrassed about the differences in money.’

‘The cost of my holiday is more than a year of carer’s allowance,’ he added.

At the end of the show, before parting ways, Jack made it up to the family by treating them to some nautical fun near the caravan park.

Rich Kids, Skint Holiday airs tonight at 9pm on 5Star.
