Stunning model says Tinder ‘kicked her off’ because she’s TOO attractive

An Instagram model claims she’s been ‘kicked off’ Tinder because so many people try to use her photos to ‘catfish’ potential dates.  

Luna Benna, 21, who now lives in Florida but grew up in Chicago, says the app is prejudiced against her for being ‘too pretty’ and has shut down her official accounts many times because it assumes they must be fake. 

Benna, who earns a living using her OnlyFans account, says she first signed up to the dating app in 2017 hoping to find love – but has seen both sex workers and catfishers pinching her photos, with one fake Facebook profile amassing thousands of fans.

Benna says she had hundreds of matches every month when she first tried the dating app and received plenty of praise from her online suitors – including gifts such as holidays and money, and even a proposal – but, three years on, she says she’s a victim of her own attractiveness. 

She explains: ‘I first joined like three years ago. I was young, dumb and… looking for love. I received so many odd and silly messages during my time on Tinder.

‘People offering me vacations, proposing to me, even offering money if I agreed to meet up with them. I never actually went through with that one, by the way.’

In the early days, Luna says she revelled in the attention and opportunity to link up with other sexy singles, and went on a few dates, too – but they all ended in disaster.

Luna reveals: ‘I definitely matched with people I liked. Did lots and lots of texting and FaceTiming, phone calls – the whole thing. Although I only actually ever met up with a couple of people from Tinder.

‘One was a super awkward experience – the dude said my presence was so powerful it made him uncomfortable. He said it “temporarily paralysed him” and he’d never met a woman like me before. We didn’t have much in common and the vibe got weird after that.’

Luna’s relationship with Tinder soon soured though and before she knew it, she was kicked off the app altogether.

On Facebook, a fake account set up using Luna’s name has thousands of followers, she says

The model was banned because her images were so popular they were attracting the creation of fake ‘catfish’ accounts.

She says: ‘From time to time, people would threaten me, on Tinder, me for being too good-looking. People were stealing my photos and making money using my images. Catfishing, basically.

‘It’s really disappointing when people create fake profiles after stealing my images – it’s sad for the person behind the image, and sad for the person who gets catfished.’

The knock-on effect was that Tinder couldn’t recognise tell the difference between the real Luna and the fakers.

She adds: ‘Yes, because there’s so many fake profiles out there, whenever I start a legit account I get reported and Tinder has me taken down!

‘I’ve had a lot of different looks over the years, and have been on the Internet forever, so they have lots of options to work with.

‘There’s even a fake Facebook of me somewhere that someone made, it currently has thousands of followers! I just need to keep reminding myself I can’t do anything about it, and it’s out of my control.’

In an especially sinister development recently, Benna has learned that many of the fake Tinder profiles out there are using her images to attract people into sex work.

She explains: ‘Some of those profiles using my pictures – so it looks like me, but with fake names, like Jessica, Amber or Natalie – refer to themselves as escorts or prostitutes.

‘At first I tried confronting them but it never ended well. The outcome would typically be a block. And it would motivate the catfishers to look even more ‘real’ and ‘authentic’ now that they knew I was aware.

‘Sadly, that’s a waste of time, and catfishing is inevitable.’

She says she’s now part of a ‘power couple’ with her new boyfriend, using their mutual love of photography to build an online following

One silver lining for Benna is that she did – against the odds – eventually find a quality Tinder match. She says: ‘I met my new guy, my current significant other, on Tinder, just before the ban. He picked me up and we went back to his place for dinner.

‘I knew friends of his before meeting him, so I already expected to have things in common and be with safe company.

‘We had such a fun time, didn’t want it to end! So we started seeing each other more and more and noticed we had similar goals and motives.

‘We both were into photography and modelling and saw an opportunity in the industry where we both are today, and we work together on my Instagram and OnlyFans content. We’re pretty much a power couple.’
