‘Apologizes for any confusion. Please disregard this post,’ the USSTRATCOM added on their Twitter account.

The initial post was soon deleted, but screenshots continued to circulate as people wondered what the USSTRATCOM – which tackles strategic deterrence, nuclear and cyberspace operations and missile defense – was up to.

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) obtained by Daily Dot provided some key insight as to the origins of the seemingly out of this world tweet.

‘The Command’s Twitter manager, while in a telework status, momentarily left the Command’s Twitter account open and unattended,’ a response from the agency’s FOIA officer reads.

‘His very young child took advantage of the situation and started playing with the keys and unfortunately, and unknowingly, posted the tweet.’

The agency continued: ‘Absolutely nothing nefarious occurred, i.e., no hacking of our Twitter account. The post was discovered and notice to delete it occurred telephonically.’
