Line of Duty’s Craig Parkinson predicts ‘broken’ Steve Arnott will be KILLED OFF in series six
‘Something tragic is going to happen to a character we love’: Line of Duty’s Craig Parkinson predicts ‘broken’ Steve Arnott will be KILLED OFF in series six
Line of Duty’s Craig Parkinson has predicted that DI Steve Arnott could meet a grisly end in series six.
The actor, who played DI Matthew ‘Dot’ Cottan in the police drama, offering his own contribution to the sea of fan theories that have flooded social media by hinting ‘something tragic’ could happen to a beloved character before the series’ end.
It comes after Sunday’s Line of Duty left fans with even more questions as they flocked to Twitter asking whether DCI Jo Davidson could be being blackmailed by an OCG and whether DI Kate Fleming could be working undercover for AC-12.
RIP? Line of Duty’s Craig Parkinson has predicted that DI Steve Arnott (pictured played by Martin Compston) could meet a grisly end in series six
Speaking on the show’s Obsessed With… podcast, Craig predicted that one of the show’s core characters could be killed off before series six comes to a close.
Discussing the show’s ‘lies cost lives’ tagline, he said: ‘Already, it’s scaring me. I feel something tragic is gonna happen to some character that we love.
‘What the hell are we gonna do if something happens to Kate, Steve or Ted?’ he added.

As talk turned to which character could lose their life in the sixth season, Craig had an opposing view to guest Jessie Cave, who claimed that Fleming [Vicky McClure] could be the surprise victim.
But Craig stuck to his guns, adding: ‘See, do you know who I think might be heading for the chop, so to speak? He’s broke. He’s a broken Steve…
‘You look at John Corbett’s widow’s face when she opens that glovebox with all those pills,’ adding that Steph Corbett was ‘visibly shocked’ to see Arnott’s hidden stash of painkillers.

Craig’s stint on Line of Duty came to an end in series three, after being fatally shot following his escape from custody when his work as a fixer for an OCG came to light.
Since series six began earlier this month, social media has been rife with theories from fans fraught with questions.
One of the major theories centred around newcomer DCI Davidson [Kelly MacDonald] who was hauled in for the first AC-12 interrogation scene of the season.
She was seen being grilled by Superintendent Ted Hastings [Adrian Dunbar], Acting DI Steve Arnott [Martin Compston] and DC Chloe Bishop [Shalom Brune-Franklin] over gross misconduct charges relating to the ongoing investigation into the murder of journalist Gail Vella [Andi Osho].
In danger? Craig said: ‘See, do you know who I think might be heading for the chop, so to speak? He’s broke. He’s a broken Steve…’
However, at the end of the episode she was let go, seemingly not guilty, after her ex-girlfriend PS Farida Jatri [Anneika Rose] was implemented in corruption.
However, Jo was seen hitching a ride with known bent copper Ryan Pilkington [Gregory Piper] and taken to collect a burner phone, making her look suspicious once more.
Fans, however, are convinced the DCI is being blackmailed into corruption, and that she is not as shady as she seems.
They also appeared to be championing a romance between DI Kate Fleming [Vicky McClure] and Jo, with some predicting Kate might be using Jo for information.
There was also plenty of chatter about the arrival of Ryan Pilkington, who was last scene joining the police academy at the end of series five, having been part of the organised crime group.
Line Of Duty continues on Sundays at 9PM on BBC One.
