‘My wine is older than your apartheid “state”‘: Lebanese-US porn star Mia Khalifa sparks fury online after drinking ‘Nazi-era wine’ in tweet mocking Israel

  • Mia Khalifa posted a pro-Palestine tweet alongside images of her drinking wine
  •  ‘My wine is older than your apartheid “state”, she wrote in the social media post
  • The post attracted criticism from some who noticed the wine was dated 1943 and contained champagne produced in Nazi-occupied France

Lebanese-American porn star Mia Khalifa has sparked fury online after mocking Israel in a tweet showing her drinking wine produced when France was occupied by the Nazis.

‘My wine is older than your apartheid “state”,’ Khalifa wrote alongside the images.

The 28-year-old, a former top-ranked performer on the adult website PornHub, has voiced her support for Palestinians on social media since cross-border violence between Israel and Gaza broke out earlier this month.

The 11-day conflict between Israel and Palestinian political and military group Hamas saw at least 242 people killed in Gaza and 13 in Israel.

Khalifa’s latest post drew backlash when Twitter users noticed the label on the wine bottles in front of her.

One of the bottles in front of Khalifa was dated 1943 and contained champagne produced in Nazi-occupied France.

Jewish Twitter user Hen Mazzig wrote: ‘You’re drinking wine made in 1943 Nazi-occupied France, while denying thousands of years of Jewish history in our ancestral homeland. Glad you found the perfect pairing for your antisemitism!’

Commercial Litigator Akiav Cohen tweeted: ‘Owning the Jewish state by proudly drinking wine from Vichy France. About right, yes. By the way, it’s also older than Pakistan. Algeria. Benin. Botswana… So what’s your point, Mia?’

Other critics took issue with Khalifa’s caption, with Dispatch editor-in-chief Jonah Goldberg tweeting: ‘I love how Israel haters cast It as young.

‘Yes the modern state of Israel was founded in ’48 — but that’s 10 years Iraq’s founding and five before Egypt’s. The of Israel (and Egypt) are old.’

Investigative journalist David Collier tweeted: ‘These viral “my gran is older than Israel” type tweets are rather amusing. A sneeze may only exist for a second – but this is still a second longer than any Palestinian state has ever been in existence.’

British commentator Darren Grimes wrote: ‘She should try drinking that wine in Gaza and see how fast she flees to Tel Aviv.’

‘Your sh***y group of terrorists has never won a war in the entire time that bottle of wine existed,’ tweeted Townhall.com columnist Kurt Schlichter.

‘Wine is illegal in Gaza,’ tweeted associate editor of Tablet Magazine Noam Blum.

Another twitter user wrote: ‘Israel is the only country in the middle East where you wouldn’t be stoned to death in the street.’

Khalifa responded to the user and said: ‘I’ll take my chances in Saudi and Syria, that “born in: Lebanon” on my passport wouldn’t go over well in “Israel”.’

Another user, referencing Khalifi former career as a porn star, tweeted: ‘Alot of talk for someone whos b*** h**e is one google search away.’

Khalifa hit out at the user and said: ‘So’s the killing of Palestinian children by Israeli defense forces. Both are in 4K.’

Khalifa, who is one of PornHub’s most popular stars, is no stranger to standing up for her political beliefs and has previously spoken out on Instagram and Twitter after India cut off the internet for the protesters.

In February, she joined Rihanna, Greta Thunberg and Kamala Harris’s niece in drawing attention to the massive demonstrations led by farmers who fear that new reforms will favour big businesses to the detriment of smaller producers.

Khalifa wrote on an Instagram Story: ‘India has cut internet around New Delhi amidst a farmers protest, what the f*** is going on?’

She then said on Twitter, taking aim at people who have doubted the legitimacy of the protests: ‘”Paid actors,” huh? Quite the casting director, I hope they’re not overlooked during awards season. I stand with the farmers. #FarmersProtest.’

Her tweet was slammed as ‘irresponsible’ by Indian authorities who accused ‘foreign individuals’ and celebrities of ‘sensationalism’.

Khalifa revealed in 2018 that death threats from ISIS made her quit the adult industry.

The history graduate said she began to receive death threats from ISIS in 2017 and revealed they were the reason why she stopped working in porn.

Khalifa, who now has an account for the adult Only Fans site, said at the time: ‘It all started to spiral out of control when the death threats from ISIS started coming in. That’s when I stepped away.’

‘As soon as I started to gain popularity that’s when I was like “get the f*** out of this”.

‘This was not what I was trying to do whatsoever. I just wanted to let loose and rebel a little bit.’

Many took issue with a scene from one of her videos showing her having sex while wearing a hijab, part of traditional female Muslim dress.

Khalifa – who comes from a Christian family – told The Washington Post in 2015 that she was surprised this scene in particular caused anger and was meant to be satirical.

‘There are Hollywood movies that depict Muslims in a much worse manner than any scene Bang Bros [the company who made the video] could produce.’
