Depop users left baffled by bizarre £13 ‘lateral flow and gold leaf resin ashtrays’ with a POSITIVE Covid test inside (but they’re already a sell-out)

  • London-based account is selling resin ashtrays with Covid tests inside on Depop
  • The bizarre products are described as ‘lateral flow and gold leaf resin ashtrays’
  • Twitter users were baffled by the £13 product which has now sold out on the app

Social media users have been left scratching their heads after discovering an ashtray featuring a positive Covid test for sale on Depop.

A London-based account which sells handmade ashtrays and pottery earlier this week posted an advertisement for ‘limited edition lateral flow and gold leaf resin ashtrays’.

The strange £13 ashtrays  – which have now sold out on the shopping app after beig snapped up by 21 customers – are transparent resin trays which feature gold flakes and, most importantly, a positive lateral flow Covid-19 test.

Twitter users were baffled by the product, with one joking that the ashtrays could be the ‘one percent’s next statement piece’.

The Depop product description reads: ‘Oh yeah! It’s positive hunnies. Get yours before the pandemic is over and stuff like this becomes unavailable’.

A picture of the ashtray on Depop with the caption ‘I have no words’ was shared on the loveofhuns Twitter page, with the seller proudly mentioning the tweet in their product bio.

The tweet racked up over 8,000 likes, 400 retweets and several comments poking fun at the unorthodox product.

‘The good news is we’ve found a cure to Covid, the bad news is there will be no more positive lateral flow test ashtrays. Working on some exciting new products we can’t wait to share with you guys’, teased one user.

Another baffled user said: ‘Lushhh, send me your contaminated positive tests hunsss.’

‘Oh my god get in the bin right now’, wrote a third.

A fourth commented: ‘You okay hun? You have hardly used your lateral flow ashtray’

‘Us humans never surprise me. This could be the one percent’s next statement piece to impress their fellow super rich mates’, said another.

Despite social media users being baffled by the bizarre tray, it seem that sales are good with 21 Depop users having purchased the tray so far.

One eagle-eyed Twitter user even noticed that the Depop user had raised their price from £10 to £13 after the tray went viral on Twitter.
