A child star on Home and Away spent the weekend behind bars after allegedly attacking a police officer while already on bail over a separate assault.
Felix Dean was just 10 when he got his big break on the show, acting alongside Ada Nicodemou as her on-screen son VJ Patterson from 2007 to 2014.
The 24-year-old was already on bail following an incident back in January when police allege they found him at an address in Paddington on Saturday night.
Officers were called to the home following reports of an altercation between two men.
Dean allegedly ‘became violent’ when an officer attempted to arrest him, lashing out and kicking a senior constable in the leg.
He was eventually taken to Surry Hills Police Station where he was charged with assaulting an officer in the execution of duty, breaching his bail conditions and failing to comply with Covid directives.
On a social media post last month, Dean referred to himself as the ‘OG VJ’ while describing himself as a ‘work in progress’
Ada Nicodemou, who plays VJ’s mum Lea on the program, viewed Dean as a ‘surrogate son’ after their time together on the show
The former child star was on bail after allegedly attempting to assault and rob a ride share driver who picked him up in Newtown on January 6.
Earlier in the evening, Dean and a friend had been drinking at a unit complex in the area and one of the men allegedly threw an empty bottle at a window, shattering it.
On that occasion, Dean was charged with aggravated assault with intent to rob, common assault and damaging property.
Dean referred to himself as the ‘OG VJ’ and a ‘work in progress’ in a social media post made last month.
‘From the good life to struggle street to finding my feet… Underestimate me at least that makes two of us,’ he wrote in the post.
He was granted strict conditional bail in Parramatta Local Court on Sunday and must report to Newtown Police Station
Dean appeared on Home and Away from 2007 to 2014 as VJ Patterson, the son of star Lea Patterson.
The 24-year-old hasn’t had an acting credit since leaving the long running soap when he was replaced by Matthew Little.
The then-17-year-old was replaced by Little with the intention of making VJ appear older and more mature as his role in the show ramped up with more mature storylines.
At the time Ada Nicodemou, who plays VJ’s mother Lea on the program, admitted she viewed Dean as a ‘surrogate son’ after their years spent together on the show.
For his portrayal of VJ, Dean was nominated for Best Young Actor at the 2008 and 2009 Inside Soap Awards.

He disappeared from the spotlight altogether after the gig.
Dean was granted strict conditional bail in Parramatta Local Court on Sunday and must report to Newtown Police Station.
As per the conditions, Dean must also agree to undergo random drug and alcohol testing and not use any illicit substances.
Dean will also have a curfew and is not to leave his Redfern address between 6pm and 6am.
He will reappear in court later this month over the latest matter and is due to be sentenced for the incident involving a rideshare driver in November.
