The man charged in the e-bike hit-and-run death of Gone Girl actress Lisa Banes pleaded not guilty to manslaughter charges Monday.

After running a red light and striking Banes on Manhattan’s Upper West Side in June, Brian Boyd, 26, fled the scene to get his bike repaired, surveillance footage shows, leaving the savaged star bleeding on the floor.

During the Monday hearing, Boyd also pleaded not guilty to charges of criminally negligent homicide, failure to exercise due care, and failure to yield in regards to the incident.

The reckless manslaughter charge is a C-level felony that typically yields a minimum sentence of one to three years in state prison – and a maximum sentence of 15 years.

Brian Boyd, 26, pleaded not guilty Monday in Manhattan Supreme Court to an indictment charging him with reckless manslaughter after hitting the Gone Girl actress June 4

After the incident, Boyd got back on his bike and sped off to a bike shop to fix his e-bike, leaving Banes severely injured in the street, prosecutors allege

After the crash, Boyd was knocked off his bike, surveillance footage from the scene shows, and proceeded to brush himself off and pick up his scooter.

He then took a few steps to look at Banes, 65, who was lying facedown on the concrete and bleeding profusely from the head, prosecutors said Monday.

Boyd then got back on his bike and sped off, fleeing the scene, leaving Banes severely injured in the street, prosecutors allege.

Lisa Banes, who starred in Gone Girl and Cocktail, was 65 when she was killed, and was visiting Manhattan from her home in LA to perform in a two-woman show

After the crash, Boyd then drove straight to a bike shop about 4 miles from where he struck Banes to tend to his damaged vehicle, a criminal complaint revealed.

The incident comes amid an outflow of reckless drivers taking to New York City streets that have been emptied by the coronavirus pandemic, often on unregulated e-bikes and scooters, with many speeding dangerously.

Many of these vehicles do not require license plates – and the ones that do, are often barren as well, enabling drivers to run red lights indiscriminately, with police often turning a blind eye on such infractions.

At least 243 people died in traffic crashes in New York City in 2020 – making it the deadliest year on record since Mayor Bill de Blasio introduced his signature ‘Vision Zero’ plan to improve street safety in 2014.

Banes, who lived in Los Angeles, was visiting Manhattan at the time, to perform in ‘The Niceties,’ a two-woman show by the Manhattan Theater Club.

She was on her way to meet friends for dinner when she was hit.

The incident took place Amsterdam Ave. at W. 64th St. near Lincoln Center. Surveillance footage shows Boyd getting off his bike to look at a severely injured Banes after the collision on June 4, before speeding off

Banes also planned to stop by the Juilliard School, a renowned performing arts school in Lincoln Center, Banes’ wife, Kathryn Kranhold, revealed after her death.

The actress, who starred in films such as Cocktail and Gone girl, and held TV credits in shows like NYPD Blue, Desperate Housewives, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The Good Wife, and NCIS, died at Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital 10 days after the collision, on June 14.

After her sudden death, several of the star’s friends in Hollywood spoke out about the incident.

Banes’ friend and singer Jill Sobule tweeted: ‘Just busted. Lisa Banes was magnificent, hilarious, and big-hearted – always helped me though the hard times. She was so beloved by so many,’ sharing a photo of the pair together in a book store.

Seth McFarlane, the creator of the television show The Orville, in which Banes appeared, also paid tribute to the actress.

He tweeted: ‘I am deeply saddened at the news of Lisa Banes’ passing. We had the good fortune to work with her on The Orville this past year.

‘Her stage presence, magnetism, skill, and talent were matched only by her unwavering kindness and graciousness toward all of us.’

Boyd was arrested back in August, two months after the incident, when patrol cops recognized him from a wanted poster.
