A bear began trick-or-treating early when it tried to swipe a large pumpkin from a front porch in Ontario, Canada, after eating other gourds on display.
The clumsy thief was caught on doorbell camera as it struggled to carry off the pumpkin off in a night-time raid.
Night footage shows the black bear rolling the pumpkin off the porch and clumsily trying to lift it up, knocking over a plant pot in the process.
The festive treat slips around in the bear’s paws as the animal stumbles back and forth to get a grip on it.
In the hilarious footage, captured by Ashley Larose from Sudbury, the pumpkin poacher struggles to stay upright with the Halloween vegetable.
At one point the bear tries to sink his teeth into the pumpkin as he stands on his hind legs. He promptly drops it and beats a hasty retreat.

Larose said: ‘It came exploring after we had put out our autumn decorations and actually snacked on several pumpkins before trying to go in for the biggest one of the bunch.
‘We found it a few meters away, still intact – it must have just been too much work on a full tummy.’
She added the bear was ‘probably taught by its mother that this is a great neighborhood for snacks from a garden or compost.’
Wildlife experts have warned of the risk of setting up decorative pumpkins on the front porch in areas where there are bears.
They say the sweet smell attracts the bears, who are currently building up body fat in preparation for hibernation.
