Professional cleaners have offered their ultimate guide to cleaning, ranging from their favourite products of all time to their secret weapons.
A woman from Sydney prompted a discussion on social media after she asked fellow cleaners to share the go-to products they swear by and their cleaning tips and tricks.
Some of the most commonly mentioned cleaning products included white vinegar, bicarb soda and dishwashing liquid.
‘I use white vinegar for anything and everything. Morning Fresh dishwashing liquid, Gumption and stainless steel polish. That is honestly all I carry these days and have been cleaning for eight years,’ one cleaner wrote in a Facebook group.

Many shared their go-to products – including $5.40 Gumption, $9.80 Halo glass cleaner, dishwashing liquid, $4.75 vanilla spray, $8 Bar Keepers Friend and $24.99 Mr Bean cleaner
Another said: ‘Bicarb soda and white vinegar – brilliant combo, also very effective alone, can be used in many areas too. These are products that are almost certainly needed into every client’s home.’
One woman wrote: ‘Cleaner here – keep it simple. Vinegar and dishwashing liquid for your wet areas, metho (methylated spirits) for your glass and a spray and wipe. I use Mr Bean all-purpose cleaner and air freshener.’
While another cleaner added: ‘A good shower cleaner is a 1/3 cup each of white vinegar, washing up detergent and water into a spray bottle.’
One cleaner said she swears by metho, saying: ‘Boiling hot water and metho to mop tiled floors – leaves them shiny and streak free, also works on stainless steel too.’
Many cleaners said one of their favourite products is Bar Keepers Friend, an all-purpose cleanser that works without chlorine bleach for everyday cleaning and removing tough stains including lime and rust.
‘Bar Keepers Friend is super versatile, I use in kitchen, ceramic, stainless steel to the glass screens in bathrooms. I highly recommend – results are amazing,’ one wrote.
‘Barkeepers Friend for shower screens is amazing,’ another said.

Others shared their go-to cleaning tools – including a toothbrush and mops.
‘Always have toothbrushes for cleaning, you can get into so many small areas with a toothbrush,’ one woman wrote.
Another said: ‘The only mop I use is the Sabco microfiber mop with Mr Bean multi purpose product.’
For window cleaning, a majority of cleaners said they couldn’t get enough of Halo.
‘Halo is the best glass polish out there. My clients always comment on how beautiful their glass and mirrors look,’ one wrote.
Another said: ‘Halo is the best glass cleaner. It also doesn’t have a strong smell. Little spray on the glass or mirrored surface, go over with a microfibre cloth and no one will ever know there was toothpaste or finger smears.’
One cleaner said one of the items she always uses for cleaning is Gumption while another revealed she always leaves her client’s home smelling ‘amazing’ with McLintocks vanilla spray
When it comes to finishing touches, the cleaners said they always pay attention to the little details around the home which their clients ‘love’.
‘Always take time for attention to detail… I always empty and clean inside of bins throughout properties. Always a simple fold on the toilet roll and make, spray and fluff the pillows on beds,’ one wrote.
Another said: ‘Get McLintocks vanilla spray from the supermarket. It smells amazing. It’s worth using it just on the kitchen benches – and all my clients love coming home to the smell and compliment it. Empty bins. Do a fancy little toilet paper fold. Make beds and straighten throws and pillows on couches.’
