A Ryanair flight was forced to make an emergency landing in France today after a fire reportedly broke out on board.
Flight FR4052 took off from Manchester today at 6.33pm and was headed for Faro, Portugal, where it was expected to land at around 9.30pm.
The pilots had to make an emergency landing in Brest in western France however when a fire was reported inside the plane.
The Ryanair operated Boeing 737-8AS aircraft touched down in Brest and was met on the runway by several fire trucks as policemen escorted passengers onto a bus which brought them to the terminal.
Flight tracking software suggested that the plane engaged in an extremely rapid descend from 41,000ft to 6,725ft in seven minutes between 7.14 to 7.21pm, sparking concerns that there could have been a loss of cabin pressure.
Current coronavirus restrictions stipulate that upon arrival in France, all travellers must self-isolate for 48 hours, after which time a negative PCR or antigen test is required to exit self-isolation.
It is unknown whether the passengers of flight FR4052 will be subject to these rules.
