You may wear your heart on your sleeve today to show your feelings – this dog has hers on her side.
For Splodge, a German shorthaired pointer, boasts a unique heart-shaped mark in her white and liver-ticked fur.
Although her owner Lisa thought the patch would distort or change as she got older, it’s only become more defined with age.

Eight-week-old Splodge with Lisa’s son Ethan, 20. She said: ‘She just loves everybody and everything. There isn’t anything she doesn’t like’
And the two-year-old certainly lives up to her markings as the friendly pet ‘loves everybody’.
‘I say she wears her heart on her side, not her sleeve and this really represents the type of dog she is,’ said Lisa, who lives with her family in Northamptonshire.
‘She just loves everybody and everything. There isn’t anything she doesn’t like.

‘She loves being out and about and in the company of other dogs or people. She really lives by her markings.’
‘Complete strangers will notice it, if she’s not wearing a harness, and comment on the heart.
‘I’m so grateful we got her. It’s made life a lot more sociable.
‘She’s extremely friendly, loving and loyal. She’s very well behaved and we can take her anywhere.’

Chocolates and flowers might be a traditional Valentine’s Day gift, but for Splodge a trip to the grassy lawns of Wimbledon would be the perfect treat.
‘Splodge like a lot of dogs is ball obsessed and her idea of heaven would be turning up at Wimbledon when the ball boys and girls are on strike,’ Lisa said.
But perhaps a new pair of slippers might be more apt, as Lisa admits that her husband is already on his fifth pair since Splodge became part of the family.
