This is the moment an eight-year-old boy burst into tears of joy upon seeing his favourite footballer in the flesh for the first time, winning a legion of his own fans in the process.
Oscar McElhinney, from Dungiven, Northern Ireland, became emotional when he saw Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah at last Saturday’s match against Watford at Anfield.
It was a dream come true for the schoolboy, who is an avid Liverpool fan, and video of his heartwarming reaction has been shared around the world.

The eight-year-old became emotional before the match, which was his first ever game at the ground

His father tells him he can see Salah, at which point Oscar looks up saying ‘where?’
When he spots the Egyptian winger on the pitch below he says ‘oh my God’ and begins to cry again.

Oscar’s mother, Melanie, said he had a ‘brilliant time’ and can’t wait for his next trip to Anfield
His mother, Melanie, told Belfast Live Oscar has been a Liverpool fan ‘for a long time’, and enjoyed the game, which saw Liverpool win 2-0.
‘He was so excited to go, he couldn’t believe it,’ she said, adding he got tickets for the match for Christmas.
‘It’s been a long wait for him from December to now but he had a brilliant time.
Oscar burst into tears once more when he spotted Salah warming up on the pitch below
‘He already can’t wait to get back over, he’s already giving me his Santa list for next year, saying he wants to get two tickets.’
She added the schoolboy was left speechless when arriving at the stadium and that he ‘couldn’t believe he was there’.
And now he has a legion of his own fans, after his auntie shared the footage on Twitter, where it has now been viewed more than 394,000 times and received 12,700 likes in three days.
