‘We pray for you’: Fabrice Muamba, Jadon Sancho and Didier Drogba among stars to send Christian Eriksen messages of support after Denmark star collapsed against Finland… as England cancel their pre-Croatia press conference

Prominent figures from the world of football have sent their best wishes to Christian Eriksen after the midfielder collapsed during Denmark’s Euro 2020 game against Finland.

Eriksen collapsed as a throw-in was taken towards him towards the end of the first half at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, with medical staff being called onto the pitch immediately to apply CPR and the game subsequently being postponed. 

Denmark tweeted to say: that Eriksen is now awake Christian Eriksen is AWAKE and is undergoing further examinations at Rigshospitalet”.

Following the incident England cancelled their pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s game against Croatia. 

Former Chelsea star Didier Drogba was among the stars to wish Eriksen well. 

Drogba wrote: ‘Fight for your life #eriksen we pray for you.’ 

Fabrice Muamba, who collapsed on the pitch at White Hart Lane while playing for Bolton against Tottenham in 2012, tweeted: ‘Please God’.

Tottenham, for whom Eriksen made 305 appearances between 2013 and 2020, wrote: ‘All of our thoughts are with Christian Eriksen and his family.’ 

Eriksen’s current club Inter wrote: ‘Forza Chris, all of our thoughts are with you!’.

England tweeted: ‘Our thoughts this evening are with Christian Eriksen and his family, and all connected with @DBUfodbold

England winger Jadon Sancho wrote: My prayers go out to’ followed by the Danish flag, a broken heart and a praying emoji.
