‘He is a very caring man with animals — he has plenty of pets and they’re all his babies. I understand he’s devastated over what happened. It’s really sad.’

For years wallabies have been sighted across south Oxfordshire, and in 2002 there were even reports of ‘delinquent’ wallabies taking over the town.
According to some local residents, they have been seen since the early to mid 1970s around the Henley and Nettlebed area.
Beale Park, a wildlife attraction based about 10 miles away in Berkshire keeps wallabies, which some living nearby have said they believe is the source.
In addition, in 2017, the BBC was told a man in the area keeps wallabies privately and they sometimes run off, resulting in occasional sightings.
