Girl, 9, ‘fights off three men’ who assaulted her near a children’s playground
- Police are searching for three men concerning the assault in north Manchester
- The girl struggled free from the three men and was able to run for assistance
- Greater Manchester Police do not believe the assault was sexually motivated
Police are searching for three men after a nine-year-old girl was forced to fight off three men in a park near a children’s playground.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed they received a report of the assault at around 9.40pm on Thursday in Blackley, north Manchester.
Officers are searching for the three men who were wearing face masks. Two of the men are described as white and the third is mixed race.

Detectives said the men tried to grab the girl, who managed to break free and run away to seek help.
Greater Manchester Police said the incident is ‘not believed to be sexually motivated or an attempted abduction and is being treated as an assault at this time’.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the three suspects were wearing face coverings. Officers said they want to speak to anyone who witnessed the attack.
No arrests have yet been made.
Detective Inspector Louise Edwards said: ‘This is a concerning incident and thankfully the child was able to run away from the men.
‘I would like to reassure the community that we are doing everything we can to find these men and have increased patrols in the area whilst we investigate.
‘We are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this incident or seen any men in the area matching these descriptions
