Tuesday night’s Love Island ended with plenty of drama as Italian hunk Davide Sanclimenti opted to couple up with Gemma Owen in the first recoupling of the series.
Davide’s decision left Gemma’s partner Liam Llewellyn single and vulnerable, with the Masters student at risk of being dumped from the villa.
Meanwhile, the tense episode revealed that two brand new girls – Afia Tonkmor and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu – were heading into the villa, with the public able to vote on which two boys will head on a date with them.

The bombshell contestant held the power after it was revealed 24 hours previously that he had to chose one of the girls to pair up with, despite the girls already being in couples with the others lads.
After spending the day getting to know the girls, the evening saw decision time for business owner Davide as he had to chose which girl to steal from one of the other boys.
Speaking in front of the firepit, he explained that his decision had not been an easy one as he had just 24 hours to get to know the other girls.
He then added: ‘It’s not just attraction, yes she’s a stunning girl. We really had a good time and I would like to know her more. The girl I would like to couple up with is… Gemma.’

As Michael Owen’s daughter made her way over to her new partner, Liam looked visibly gutted as he could only sit by and watch.
But his misery continued as he then received a text which confirmed his single status and revealed that anyone not in a couple by the end of the week is at risk of being dumped from the villa.
Meanwhile, viewers were quick to take to Twitter to share their thoughts on Davide choosing Gemma to couple up with.
One viewer tweeted: ‘Gemma and Davide have to be the least compatible couple I’ve ever seen….’
With another sharing: ‘Nothing happened this episode just wasted one hour of my time just to see Davide get with Gemma which was pretty obvs from the beginning. Boringgg.’

First choice: ‘It’s not just attraction, yes she’s a stunning girl. We really had a good time and I would like to know her more. The girl I would like to couple up with is… Gemma’
‘I’m so upset about Davide choosing Gemma, while yes she is an attractive girl (as all of them are in my opinion) he’s almost 10 years older than her. Davide is most likely more mature than Gemma and choosing her is only gonna make problems down the road’ said a third.
‘I’m happy Davide and Gemma coupled up because when they break up, she is gonna turn up her tyranny and he’s gonna go into toxic mode’ commented a fourth watcher.
A fifth wrote: ‘Gemma and davide are so awkward together each conversation makes me want to dieeeeee’
With another adding: ‘I think Davide pick Gemma because she’s the only girl that isn’t interested in the person she’s with.
Oh no: His misery continued as he then received a text which confirmed his single status and revealed that anyone not in a couple by the end of the week is at risk of being dumped from the villa
At risk: The other islanders watched on as Liam learned that his place in the villa was in jeopardy if he didn’t couple up by the end of the week
The opening scenes saw Gemma made her intentions clear with Davide as she told him that she didn’t like to be second best.
As the Italian hunk pulled her for a chat, the daughter of Michael Owen asked him if he had good morals, to which he remained coy.
Reprimanding him, she uttered: ‘nah you don’t do you, you’re a little s**t!’
After being questioned why she said this about him, Gemma said: ‘because you couldn’t give me a straight answer. Do you mess people around?’

To which Davide responded: ‘No’.
On his impending decision, Gemma then added: ‘I feel like the power has proper got to your head.’
As Davide implied he like the power during their flirty chat, Gemma then added: ‘Oh my God, I might remove myself from this situation so you’ve got to pick someone else!
‘I don’t like competition, I want to be first, not second!’
And it seemed as though Davide liked Gemma straightforwardness as her words apparently made an impact on his later decision.

Elsewhere on the show, things heated up between Andrew and Tasha as two shared a kiss, after having locked lips during the earlier airport challenge.
As they sat on the sofa and reflected on the game, Andrew asked Tasha if she wanted a repeat performance of their kiss and soon swiftly moved in for another more intimate smooch.
As a giggly Tasha joked he was marking his territory, her other potential love interest Luca watched on as the other boys cheered.

The show made its much-anticipated return to screens on Monday night, with ten hopeful singletons heading to a brand new Mallorcan villa in search of ‘fun, flirting and fifty grand.’
The series kicked off with a dramatic twist as viewers were given the chance to vote for this year’s first couples for the first time, but romances were already been put to the test with the arrival of hunky bombshell Davide Sanclimenti.
While the couples were mere hours into getting to know one another, the Islanders learned that one boy would be left vulnerable as Davide chose which one he’d like to be paired up with, and Gemma Owen didn’t waste any time stealing a cheeky smooch from the hunk – despite being in a pairing with Liam Llewellyn.

During this season of Love Island, contestants will be given inclusivity training, round the clock access to mental health experts and bespoke guidance on how to cope with instant fame as part of an extensive care package implemented ahead of its latest series.
Producers have ensured its latest crop of singletons are given plenty of professional guidance as part of their duty of care protocol – before, during and after their stay in the Spanish villa.
Ahead of this series, contestants were offered video training and guidance covering appropriate inclusive language around disability, sexuality, race and ethnicity, as well as general behaviours and microaggressions.

Pre-filming psychological and medical assessments, including reviews conducted by an independent doctor, psychological consultant and reports from each Islander’s own GP to check their respective medical histories, were also required.
The inclusion training, which Islanders were offered prior to entering the Villa, consisted of conversations chaired by BCOMS (Black Collective of Media in Sport) founder Leon Mann MBE.
It also included DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) consultant Hayley Bennett, disability specialist Shani Dhanda and broadcaster Sean Fletcher.
The discussions have been devised to tackle topics including inclusive language, behaviour, creating safe spaces and being a good ally.
Additionally, prospective Islanders watched a video fronted by the show’s executive producer and head of welfare interviewing former Islanders about their experiences on the show.
This included details on the two week period before they enter the Villa, how to cope being filmed 24 hours a day, the interaction they will have with producers in the Villa, the support provided to family members, dealing with social media trolling, and adapting to life away from the show.
As always registered mental health professional are engaged throughout the whole series – from pre-filming to aftercare.
Potential Islanders are also required to fully disclose in confidence any medical history that would be relevant to their inclusion in the Villa and the production’s ability to provide a suitable environment for them.
Love Island continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
