Rick Stein is selling a £72.50 breakfast for couples to enjoy in lockdown – but you have to cook it yourself.
The TV chef, 73, who lives in Cornwall with his wife Sarah, is flogging a pricey DIY fry up on his website, with the ‘luxury breakfast box’ for two costing £72.50 – not including postage.
For that hefty price tag, customers will receive smoked salmon, sausages, bacon rashers, hog’s pudding, sourdough, six eggs, jam or marmalade and salted butter, while drinks include champagne, apple juice and origin ground coffee.
The product description online reads: ‘Treat yourself to the most special weekend breakfast at home with our luxury box that celebrates some of the best produce from Cornwall and beyond.’

It continues: ‘This box includes more than enough for two fantastic breakfasts or brunches, like smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, sausage sandwiches and a full Cornish, of course.’
The chef is also a selling a £35 breakfast box for two, which includes four sausages, six rashers of bacon, six eggs, bread, hog’s pudding, jam or marmalade, salted butter and coffee – with postage costing £7.95.
In June, it was announced that two of Rick Stein’s restaurants were not set to reopen after the coronavirus lockdown restrictions on the hospitality industry were lifted.
The restaurants in Marlborough, Wiltshire, and Porthleven, Cornwall, are now permanently closed.

While customers will receive the necessary ingredients, they will be expecting to do the cooking themselves
The announcement was made on matching posts on the Facebook page of each restaurant.
In the statement, it said: ‘We are very sad to announce that our restaurants in Marlborough and Porthleven will not be reopening. .
‘We would like to thank all our customers who have supported us there over the years.
‘We hope you will find your way to our other restaurants where perhaps we can share fond memories of nights overlooking the romantic harbour at Porthleven or the classic perfection of the High Street in Marlborough.’
The Rick Stein Group will continue to run its other 12 restaurants, including in Barnes, London, Sandbanks, Dorset and Winchester, Hampshire.
The group’s flagship restaurant in Padstow, Cornwall, is also unaffected. It also runs a collection of cafes, pubs and fish and chip shops in Cornwall.
