Bridgerton bosses hired costume designer Ellen Mirojnick to head up the team behind the ‘bold and beautiful’ ensembles seen on screen.

During the video, Ellen said: ‘This interoperation needed to be an overview of how we can add modern elements.

‘We’ve made it more luxurious and sumptuous. We’ve introduced a modern colour pallet but also tried to stick to the foundations of the 1813 silhouette.’

Bessie Carter, who plays Prudence Featherington, admitted the final design of the costumes was a far cry from what she had originally imagined.

She said: ‘I walked in thinking beige bonnets and carriages but Ellen showed me the book of ideas which showed the costume, colours and shapes.

‘Ellen showed me and went “real” which was a picture from the period, high fashion, which was a high fashion picture, and then “Shonda” [Rhimes].

Meanwhile, Nicola Coughlan – who plays Penelope Featherington – said the warehouse is ‘full of costumes’ and discussed the elaborate detail on each garment.

Showrunner Chris Van Dusen said: ‘I think there are 7500 pieces in the wardrobe just made for Bridgerton, everything you see is bespoke. Everything is made for the show and nothing comes from a costrume house.

While Phoebe added: ‘I’m in a different outfit every scene, we counted and I have 104 dresses, which is just madness.’
