So what should you do if you want your pillows to be clean without ruining them in the machine?
Firstly, Mila explained that the majority of pillows can be washed in the washing machine.
‘Wash two at a time in liquid detergent. Power detergent may leave a film,’ Mila said.
The mum added that she always adds a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil to the mix, which gets rid of any dust mites.
‘Dry the pillows flat in the shade until they’re nearly dry,’ she said.

Mila said you should do this for five minutes, as the tennis ball helps to ‘fluff the pillow and avoid bunching’.
‘It’s important to follow the care instructions of your individual pillows, but this works with most,’ Mila said.
Thousands who have seen Mila’s TikTok video online have been impressed with it, writing comments including ‘thank you’ and ‘can’t wait to try this’.
‘I added eucalyptus oil to my last wash and it smelled amazing,’ one commenter added.

1. Strip your bed and vacuum your mattress.
2. Mix baking soda with essential oil in a glass container and then sprinkle the mixture over your mattress.
3. Wash your linen and sheets at the same time, and wash pillows and duvet covers every three to six months, leaving them to dry outside ideally.
4. Vacuum up the excess baking soda and re-make your bed.
5. Finish with linen spray.
